Finding cheaper prices on insurance can seem to be slightly frustrating for drivers who have little experience online rate comparisons. There are so many companies to choose from that it can quickly become a lot of work to lower your rates.
If you are paying for car insurance now, you should be able to save some money using this strategy. Finding affordable protection can be fairly easy. But vehicle owners need to learn how companies market on the web and use this information to your advantage.
Effectively comparing insurance prices can be challenging if you don’t understand the most efficient way. You can waste a few hours (or days) discussing policy coverages with insurance agencies in your area, or you could use the web to get rate comparisons in just a few minutes.
Most of the larger companies are enrolled in a marketplace that enables customers to enter their policy data once, and every company then gives them pricing for coverage. This prevents consumers from doing quotation requests to each individual insurance company.

One minor caviat to comparing rates this way is that consumers can’t choose the providers you want to price. So if you prefer to pick specific providers to request quotes from, we put together a list of low cost insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.
How you compare quotes is your choice, just make sure you are using exactly the same coverages with every price quote. If you use higher or lower deductibles it will be impossible to make a fair comparison for your HUMMER H3. Just a small difference in coverages may cause a big price difference. It’s important to know that comparing more rates from different companies increases the change that you will find the best offered rates. Not every company provides online price quotes, so it’s necessary to compare quotes from those companies as well.
When choosing coverage, there really is no perfect coverage plan. Your needs are not the same as everyone else’s.
Here are some questions about coverages that could help you determine if you might need professional guidance.
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but you think they might apply to your situation, then you may want to think about talking to a licensed agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, take a second and complete this form.
Understanding the coverages of auto insurance helps when choosing the right coverages and the correct deductibles and limits. The coverage terms in a policy can be ambiguous and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
This pays to fix your vehicle from damage OTHER than collision with another vehicle or object. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive coverage protects against things such as hail damage, hitting a deer and falling objects. The most you can receive from a comprehensive claim is the market value of your vehicle, so if the vehicle’s value is low consider removing comprehensive coverage.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage reimburse you for expenses for things like doctor visits, dental work, rehabilitation expenses, surgery and chiropractic care. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if you do not have health coverage. It covers both the driver and occupants as well as any family member struck as a pedestrian. PIP is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage
Liability coverage protects you from damage or injury you incur to a person or their property by causing an accident. It consists of three limits, per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. Your policy might show policy limits of 25/50/25 that means you have $25,000 bodily injury coverage, $50,000 for the entire accident, and a total limit of $25,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Another option is a combined limit that pays claims from the same limit rather than limiting it on a per person basis.
Liability coverage pays for things like repair bills for other people’s vehicles, medical services and repair costs for stationary objects. The amount of liability coverage you purchase is up to you, but it’s cheap coverage so purchase higher limits if possible.
This coverage covers damage to your H3 from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible then the remaining damage will be paid by your insurance company.
Collision coverage protects against things such as scraping a guard rail, backing into a parked car and damaging your car on a curb. Paying for collision coverage can be pricey, so consider dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. You can also choose a higher deductible in order to get cheaper collision rates.
This protects you and your vehicle when other motorists do not carry enough liability coverage. It can pay for medical payments for you and your occupants and damage to your HUMMER H3.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their limits can quickly be used up. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Frequently these coverages are set the same as your liablity limits.
